The duration of an Atlantic crossing can vary depending on weather conditions, wind patterns, and the pace of the crew — which is part of what makes the journey so unique.

In total, you can expect the full experience to take around five weeks. This typically includes about one week of preparation in the Canary Islands before departure, followed by the ocean crossing itself, which usually takes two to three weeks.

Participants are expected to arrive in advance of the departure to prepare the yacht and crew for the journey. Accommodation on board is provided throughout the experience, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in life at sea from the very beginning.

The full Atlantic crossing experience is priced from 99,000 SEK (approximately €8,000) per person, excluding flights, transfers, and personal expenses during the trip.

The Boat Kitty

In addition to the trip price, all participants contribute to a shared onboard budget, often referred to as the boat kitty. This covers food, drinks, and everyday household items throughout the journey.

The contribution is typically around €500 per person, while the skipper is not included in this shared cost.

While sailing, devices can be charged via 12V outlets, and when docked in marinas, 220V shore power is usually available. Some yachts are also equipped with generators, allowing access to 220V power even at anchor.

In many destinations, marinas also offer additional facilities such as showers and toilets, providing extra comfort during your sailing trip.

An Atlantic crossing is a demanding and rewarding sailing experience, so participants are expected to have prior sailing experience and a good understanding of life at sea. You’ll be part of the crew throughout the journey, taking part in daily tasks such as sailing, watch systems, and basic onboard duties.

A good level of physical fitness is important, as conditions at sea can be challenging over extended periods. On board, a qualified skipper and assistant skipper will guide the crew and ensure everyone is confident with the yacht and its systems before and during the crossing.

Just as important is the right mindset — openness, adaptability, and a positive attitude are key when living and sailing closely with others for several weeks.

Yes — all yachts are equipped with the required safety equipment to meet the standards set for offshore sailing and organised ocean crossings. The skipper is responsible for ensuring the yacht is fully prepared and compliant before departure.

Personal Safety Equipment

Participants are required to bring their own personal safety gear. This includes a life jacket equipped with:

Leg straps
Sprayhood
Safety line with carabiners
Reflectors
Whistle
Light
Clearly marked name (participant and yacht)
Spare rearming kit with CO₂ cartridge

Recommended Equipment

While not mandatory, the following items are strongly recommended for additional safety and comfort:

Personal locator device (PLB or AIS/MOB beacon)
Knife or multi-tool attached to your life jacket
Small torch and headlamp (preferably with red light mode)
